Exotic lion-meat tacos

Exotic lion-meat tacos...

In the six months since it launched Exotic Taco Wednesdays, Boca Tacos y Tequila has served up python, alligator, elk, kangaroo and rattlesnake.

Frog legs, turtle, duck and Rocky Mountain oysters have also made appearances.

"We've done just about anything we can get our hands on," said owner Bryan Mazon. "Every Wednesday we do something a little bit different."

Last week he announced on Boca's Facebook page that the UA-area taco shop was accepting prepaid orders for African lion, to be served on Feb. 16. Orders must be placed by 3 p.m. Feb. 7.

"I've gotten a lot of questions, like if it's legal," said Mazon, adding that a few lion tacos have been reserved so far. "We're still a month out, too."

According to the Food and Drug Administration, lion and other game meat can be sold as long as the species isn't endangered.

"I'm doing the African lion to get my name out," said Mazon, who used to be a salesman for City Meat and Provisions. "I've never tried it myself, but this one really caught my eye."

Mazon said he had heard about a Mesa restaurant, il Vinaio, that served burgers made with African lion to correspond with the World Cup in South Africa last summer. Reservations sold out, but others picketed the restaurant.

Most of Boca's exotic tacos range between $3 and $4. The lion tacos cost $8.75 apiece.

This is the first time Boca is pre-selling its tacos. But at $100 a pound of ground lion meat - $400 for a pound of tenderloin - it makes sense.

Mazon said he still expects to lose money on the lion, but is in it for exposure.

"In all reality, what I want is just people to know that I'm here," he said. "That's the way to do it. You can't get these tacos anywhere else."

His wife, Maria Jose Mazon, is Boca's chef and will make eight tacos per pound.

The couple usually order 2 to 3 pounds of meat for Exotic Wednesdays, with grilled alligator being the best-seller.

But rattlesnake made an impact, too.

CRAZY SMADE - And people still wonder why I'm so disgusted with Christian-Atheist America? People still wonder why I'm so attracted to Judaism? As if I needed another reason!? Wow! Maybe Disney should make some more movies about cartoon lions, huh? They've certainly made enough movies with dogs and rodents and I don't see people eating them, at least not openly. I'd expect to find something like this in China or elsewhere throughout Eastern Asia, but not here in the States. I'm sure that certain programs on cable TV's FOOD NETWORK & the TRAVEL CHANNEL have contributed to this and other unsettling trends in Goyishkeit (i.e., the opposite of Jewishness). When the demand for lion-meat tacos catches on will it lead to an increase in canned hunt operations? Exotic animals belong in the wild and NOT in a cage, on your floors and walls, and certainly not on your dinner plate or in a take-out bag! ARGH!

HaShem! HaShem! Please, give me the means and wherewithal to leave this accursed society and their Goyishkeit in the dust!! I honestly don't know how much longer I can tolerate this insanity!!!

Emunah in HaShem, the Bestower of Goodness

Emunah in HaShem, the Bestower of Goodness

The wife of R' Mordechai, the Maggid of Czernoble, died young and he took as his second wife the daughter of R' Dovid of Leikus, a disciple of the Baal Shem Tov.

R' Dovid was always of a joyous demeanor, even though he was beset by many tragedies, losing his wife and several children. His demeanor did not change even when he was sitting shivah.

"The Baal Shem Tov says that HaShem does nothing bad. It is just that with our human perception we cannot see the good."

The townsfolk who knew his disposition avoided the usual platitudes of consolation. However, two people who came from afar were not aware of this, and they said the usual adges, "What is man, and what is his life?" "Man is like a broken potsherd, like a dream that vanishes," etc.

In order to placate them, R' Dovid acted as if in grief. But when they continued their litany, he was no longer able to tolerate it. "Listen here," he said, "a human being is very dear, more precious than heavenly angels. Wherever he is, in this world or the next, the Divine light shines over him. There is no agony, no evil, no travail, only Divine goodness. We must obey the rituals of mourning as prescribed by the Shulchan Aruch, but with true emunah in HaShem's infinite benevolence, we need not feel sad."

Greek Priest: I Do Not Hate Jews

Greek Priest: I Do Not Hate Jews

by Elad Benari

After previously making anti-Semitic comments on a Greek television program, the Metropolite of Piraeus, Seraphim, has issued a letter of clarification.

In the letter, which was written on December 23 and appeared last week on the FightHatred.com website, Seraphim seeks to clarify that he does not hate Jews (recognizing that Jesus was born a Jew) but claims that the Jews have since been lead into Satanism by the teachings of the Talmud, the Rabbis and the Kabbalah. He also says that Zionism is a conspiracy to take over the world....

********************************

CRAZY SMADE WRITES - This is beyond sad and pathetic! And people wonder why I can't tolerate X-tianity and hate living amongst X-tians? And don't give me that, this was just one man's opinion or that this is limited to particular branch of X-tianity. Fact is, these feelings and beliefs are so wide spread that I can no longer stand living amongst the Non-Jews. These people can go paint a target on themselves and leave me out of the Divine Wrath that's about to fall upon them!

A plot to take over the world!? The Jews can't even take over their own country, thanks to the constant k'vetching on the Nations! But, these haters can just keep the lashon hara coming, because each time the turn and bark at Klal Yisrael ... HaShem adds to the wealth of the Jews by ruling in their favor in the Heavenly Court.

And others wonder why I want to convert to Judaism and why I want to throw my lot in with Klal Yisrael!? They wonder why I'm tired with living in a culture that is dedicated to hatred and death?

I would convert....

I would convert...

My response to a recent post on the Mystical Paths blog:

First off, if one is asking these kinds of questions about a system of emunah (or hashkafa), then why bring up conversion at all!?!?!? It doesn't make any sense! Judaism is not a COUNTRY CLUB! I find the individual asking these questions highly suspect!

It's like saying, "I'd love to eat a nice, thick steak dinner, but I'm a vegetarian and I don't believe that animals should be killed!"

Okay, I give R' Locks full points for being a mensch and a disciple of Aaron and for not taking Shammai's measuring rod and beating this person over the head with it.

That said, I certainly hope that R' Locks isn't really saying here that one should find a spiritual path among the Nations, but that's what it sounds like to me....

That's a death sentence for one who is truly seeking emes and tikkun nefesh and Derech HaShem! Noachidism isn't to be found in the religions and belief-systems and customs of the Nations! What!? I'm suppose to be an X-tian Noachide or a Muslim Noachide or a Hindu Noachide or a Wiccan Noachide...?

That's like saying, "If you want to learn all about Ahavas Yisrael, then look to Amalek for instruction and guidance!"

The only ones qualified to teach Noachidism and mussar and Derech HaShem to a Gentile are THE JEWS!

I'm sorry, R' Locks, but you and the rest of Klal Yisrael are stuck with the task of being ohr l'goyim.

No, you don't have to accept converts, but neither can you dismiss a genuine Ger Toshav. Why turn a true Noachide over to the wolves (i.e., Amalek, the Nations)...? Why banish such a person to some spiritual rest home in Boca Raton, Florida!?

There are some of us who don't like the Galus anymore than you do! Why doom such a person to live in a social system that he/she simply isn't equipped to fix!?

You know something.... All dogs descend from wolves and yet, there are some dogs which have been bred and trained to view a herd of sheep as being members of it's pack. So, why on earth would a good shepherd chase off such a dog and leave him to the company of wolves!? Where's the logic and justice and stewartship in that!?!?!?

Sorry, but this post really stuck a nerve. I'm tired of being patted on the head by Jews and told to run along and play with the other Gentiles. Who wants to feel patronized? Who wants to feel like they're being given the bum's rush!

Facebook 'friends' mock 'suicide' of woman who posted goodbye message

Facebook 'friends' mock 'suicide' of woman who posted goodbye message

And this is why I've left so many websites and deleted the posts that I could - not counting the ones that I've been booted from for not espousing the same belief-system as the membership thereof.

Way too people have become "virtual head hunters" -- as if collecting the so-called "friendship" of others could give one a genuine sense of belonging and self-esteem?

GET REAL! The virtual world of the Internet is no substitute for a REAL LIFE support network of friends and/or family!

There are over 7+ billion people on this planet and yet, there's really only one person that I can call, day or night, and just talk with about anything and know that I'll be accepted regardless of any difference in opinion. One person out of 7+ billion! How sad and pathetic is that!?

Yes, there are a scant handful of others with whom I can dialogue and/or ask questions of, but the vast majority of Internet acquaintances are just that! Further, these are only responsive if I happen to agree with them on "this" or "that" topic!

Friendship, like love, is a word that is bandied about these days.

Yehoshua ben Perachia said, "Make for yourself a rabbi, acquire for yourself a friend, and judge every person favorably" - Pirkei Avot 1:6.

Sadly, this is easier said than done in our world. :(

One of my favorite lines from L.M. Montgomery's book, "Anne of Green Gables," is when the main character, Anne Shirley, says, "Plum puffs won't minister to a mind diseased." Seeking comfort and consolation and fellowship from food or "friend collecting" on the Internet is rather like plate of "plum puffs," IMO. Neither is a substitute for finding a kindered spirit and acquiring a bosom friend.
